A couple more inches of early morning snow meant we had another snow day today. That makes for snow day number 5, plus 3 power outage days from December which leaves us going to school until June 29.
On the plus side...6-day weekends are cool.

Our kitchen is done! (mostly)
When we moved into the new house we knew right away that we wanted to take out the walls separating the kitchen from the dining room and living room. We wanted the whole space to be more open and we also needed more cabinet space. The project began in November; Marcy’s dad and brother tore out walls and sheet rocked. Her dad, Ken, built and installed the island and helped with the tile work. We finally got around to grouting this weekend. (Sorry for the delay dad!) We’ll eventually need to do some painting, but for now it feels great to have everything back together. We couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out! Thanks Dad and Steve for all your hard work!
Baby, it's cold outside!
What a strange couple weeks this has been! In fact, we are stretching our brains trying to remember when we were last able to teach a full five day week!
It started with the unexpected early start to our winter break in December (due to the power outages) and has continued with 5 inches of snow being dumped on us the other night. Usually in this area it all melts away in a day or so, but here we are four days later with a street that's still so covered in compact snow and ice that cars can't get up or down our hill without spinning wildly. Not to mention that missed school on Thursday and Friday now puts us at 7 missed days and potentially going to school until June 28! And winter is far from over! Yikes!
The good news...Basie loved playing in the deep snow on Wednesday night.
The bad news...our car ended up off the road yesterday. Fortunately no one was hurt, but the car has been towed to an auto body shop with some ugly front-end damage. We'll know more about how extensive it is on Monday.

Some holiday pics of the family
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We hope that all of you enjoyed a wonderful holiday! We celebrated Christmas for three days straight with various family members. Miles was completely spoiled by all the gifts...especially from his grandparents. (Thank you!!!) His favorite part was tearing open packages and playing with the paper.
